The grassroots of We Coproduce date back to 2013.  Service user involvement at West London Mental Health NHS Trust (WLMHT) was not working due to a lack of dedicated funding, poor central organisation and an historical way of working that was perceived as 'them and us'.

After a series of community wide events, service users, carers and staff agreed co-production and partnership working was the way we wanted to work together. With a commitment of new funding from the WLMHT board we voted in favour of forming an independent and viable business to deliver this and together we formed West London Collaborative CIC - a Community Interest Company limited by shares.

We were really successful and soon began to work with commissioners, community organisations and academic institutions across London who also wanted us to help them embed coproduction in their service design and delivery.

So we simply grew too big for our name and we had to rebrand. Today we are known nationally as  - We Coproduce.
